Trash to Treasure

So, as I was drudging through a stack of photographs that I have stashed in various places and in different types of containers  (boxes, bags, original picture packing that you get it back from Walmart in); I decided I needed something to stash them in (at least some of them).

I saw this sitting on my shelf and figured now was as good as anytime to be creative.

I found this book at a local antique shop and thought that it had a bigger calling than falling apart on a shelf.

And it was getting incredably close to the falling apart calling.

A couple hours (and several ideas) later this was the end result.

This is the front... I thought the cover was pretty and I wanted to leave some of it exposed.  All of the patterned paper is from Imaginisce Garden Party along with all of the jewel embellishments.

I used some of the pages of the book to make the accordion flower (sorry I don't know the technical term).  The broach is another antique store find, the swirls are cut from Serenade, and the ribbon is from a local craft shop.

Now all I have to do is go find all the places I stashed my pictures... Lol  =-)

Mid-Week Getaway

Well.... It's midterms, and tonight I needed to escape to somewhere that had nothing to do with school...   To my craft room I went.  It is so  nice to be the only one home, in a quite room  just cutting away.

I absolutely love the way this one turned out!

The patterned paper is from Imaginisce Garden Party collection... Very beautiful! As are the rhinestones.

The punch is Martha Stewart Eyelet Lace.

The cute little snail is cut from Walk In My Garden.

It was nice to take a break from the madness.
As usual I made this to compete in several challenges this week.

I hope you have a great week!

More School Projects....

So, it currently seems that Saturdays are becoming my only day to post.... sad.  I don't have any completed projects for y'all, but I do want to share some things that I am working on.

For one of my classes this semester I have to create ten books that I can use in my classroom one day (I am an early childhood major).  The first one I did (the writing is completed, it is just not printed or bound) is a spoof off of a book called "Crazy Colored Creatures". I saw someone's blog who was doing some illustrations of this for her child's teacher and thought it was adorable (I can't remember where sorry). I used my Gypsy and Mini Monsters cartridge to make my "Rhyming With Monsters" (what I named my version) creatures.

This is Link Pink. She has feet that stink.

Poor Sue Blue, she has the flu.

Dwight White stays up all night!

The book that I am working on now is one that I am writing about a cow who lost her voice and goes around the farm trying to find it again.  I am kind of stumped for illustrations for this one. If anyone knows of a cartridge or supplies that has really cute farm images I would love to know!  =-)

I have been pretty popular at the post office this week... I think I got a package in almost every day. Lol.  From cartridges, Peachy Keen Faces (I am in love with these), to a couple of prizes that I won!

I was elated when this arrived! Thanks Joy from Obsessed With Scrapbooking!!!

FYI: I am not sure if it was just the Memphis Michaels or not, but they had Martha Stewart punch sets on clearance... needless to say I racked up =-)

Have a Great Weekend!

Hoo Hoo!

It is time again for another My Pink Stamper blog hop.  If you haven't checked it out click HERE.  There is so much inspiration from all of the Design Team and Robyn!  The challenge was to use black and your favorite color; I chose purple (and a splash of green).

I used my Gypsy to weld two shadows of this owl together.  I believe this owl  is from Gypsy Wanderings... I Love that cartridge!

I added some ribbon, buttons, stitching/doodling, and a touch of Stickles (though its hard to see in these photos... the lighting in my craft room in not good) for a splash of fun.

I found these rub on stickers by K&Company at a local craft store and decided to give them a try.  They are fun, but I much rather stamping.

I had allot of fun making this card, and learning all the ends and outs of my Gypsy... Come back soon!  =-)

Pucker Up!

This is a fun card that I did for a couple of challenges this week.
The lips are from the Indie Art cartridge which is what the Flaunt It Friday challenge is all about this week. I am really excited because this is the first time I am able to participate in this challenge!

Also, the colors I used  go along with the new OTWC challenge.  Here is this weeks inspiration, the colors are red, white, and pink:

And lastly I used the sketch from Peachy Keen Tuesday Challenge.  This also had a twist; must be monochromatic.

I really love this card... It is probably one of my favorites so far.  =-)

I Do!

Well, I figured that after a year and a half of saying those two small (but BIG) words I should probably start scrap-booking our wedding pictures.  I really liked the February sketch over at Artful Delight so I used that for inspiration.

I found this paper at a local craft store, and it is just Perfect! It is hard to see in the picture (I really have to get some better lighting in my craft room) but the paper is purple and very pail yellow, which were my main colors.

This did not turn out to be one of my favorite layouts... Its just missing something. Oh well, there will be plenty of other chances to get a perfect one  =-)

I do like the way these flowers turned out.  I used sunflowers (my Favorite!) in my wedding, and I tried to resemble them, and it came out pretty good.

This is the first project I used my Gypsy on, and OH my I had so much fun! I didn't do anything fancy this time (just trying to lean the ropes), but I promise there will be more to come!!!

Have a  Wonderful day,
Olivia
