Two in One

There are several challenges this week that I want to participate in... Hopefully I can get them all in..  =-)
I was able to combined Cooking With Cricut and My Pink Stamper because they are both Birthday Challenges!  These actually  came at a good time too because I have twin cousins who are turning 2 tomorrow (needless to say the cards will be late... Ooops  sorry Kaiden and MacKenzie).

They are twins, so I wanted to keep them similar, but I individualized them for boy and girl cards.  I used the sketch from Cooking with Circut for inspiration.

The animals and number 2 are cut from Zooballoo at 2 1/2 inches.  The regular circle is cut from Winter Woodland at 2 3/4 inches and the scalloped is also from Winter Woodland cut at 3 inches

The sentiment is from My Pink Stamper Even More Punny-Licious.  If you have followed anything else I have done lately you are probably wondering   "is that the only set of stamps she has?" And the truth is... Yes, yes they are...Lol!  However, I am in the process of getting some more (YEAH! I'm so excited)!

I had fun with these, even though Kaiden and MacKenzie won't even know what they are for... Lol

Happy Birthday Kids!!!  =-)

Just call me Last Minute Lucy

So I did these card this weekend, but I have not gotten a chance to post them until now.

I believe the frog is from Animal Kingdom and the coffee cup is from Christmas Cheer.

I will keep it short tonight. Just thought I would pop in and share. Have a good night (or day).

My first Award!

I am so honored that Shauna over at Craftee She awared me with the Stylish Blogger Award!  Thanks so much Shauna!

My Blog Award

*In order to complete the requirements for this award I must tell 8 things that you probably don't know about me, so here it goes.

1. I have a huge family, my dad is one of 10 siblings, and for the most part everyone is really close.  Holiday's, birthdays, church events are all spent together if we can help it.  I love them all and one day hope to carry one the trend. Well, maybe not 10, but my husband and I do want several children in the future.

2.  I sing... ALL THE TIME.  And no, it is not always good.  I do not even realize that I do it most of the time.  My husband tells me that living with me is like living in a musical.

3.  I love Pixar movies, and I have been known to cry while watching UP!

4.  I love to read, though I don't do it nearly enough.

5.  I love animals, and once wanted to be a vet. However, after talking to a professor in that major, I realized I actually just want to run a petting zoo (and leave all the health/clinical stuff to someone more equipped).

6.  Nine times out of ten if you give me the chance to participate in any type of sport, I will jump at the chance.

7.  I love to bake!  My new obsession is creating the perfect cheesecake =-)

8.  One day, my husband and I will be in Africa.  I will be teaching and he will be doing his Physical Therapy practice.  That was one of the first things we agreed on before we even started dating.

*Another part of receiving this award is to Pay it Forward to 8 more Stylish bloggers:

2. Charlotte at Scrapper for Hire
3. Victoria at Crafting with my Girls
5.  Diana at DL.ART
6. Kim at The Holmes Crew
7.  Shelley at Cricut Cuteness
8.  Val at Crafty Go Lucky

Thanks again Shauna!

So, I was looking through some of My Pink Stamper stamps so I could join in their first blog hop {Check it out Here}.  When I saw the "I Moose You" stamp it immediately made me think about my long lost friend in Alaska. Just about every other day I log onto Facebook and she has something posted about moose (mooses?? meese?? lol pretty sure moose is right), either they are in her yard, her husband hit one, they are eating on Lol... and the list goes on. So I figured I would make her a card to say hello and that I 'moose' her.  =-)

The moose is from Animal Kingdom cut at 2 3/4 inches

The card and circles are cut from Wild Card

She is not really a girly girl, and rarely uses/wears pink; so I used her favorite colors.  I think it came pretty cute... Very her. =-)

Five Question Friday

So, I have been MIA for the past week.  The first week of class is usually pretty hectics.  I already have 4 assignments and a test due next week; so, if this is any indication for the next of the semester my posts may be skimpy for a while.  I will try to get on here on the weekends at least though.  In the mean time I saw this "Five Question Friday" post on Sue's Cricut and Crafts blog and thought it was cute.  Have a great Friday!

1. What movie could you watch over and over again and not get tired of?
There are several:
  • You've Got Mail
  • Dirty Dancing - Because nobody puts Baby in a corner
  • Seven Brides for Seven Brothers - This is an old one, but if you have not seen it... You should

2. What's your biggest pet peeve right now?
  • I walk really fast (I call it walking with a purpose, Lol), and I hate getting behind people who just lolly-gag their way from place to place.  Especially when it is cold outside.

3. If you had to describe your best friend in five words or less, what would you say?
  • Loving
  • Kind
  • Funny
  • Loyal
  • Honest

4. If you did not have to worry about money or go to school what would you do for a living?
  • I would travel the world and photograph it.  This passion started when I was a journalism major.  I had to take a photography class, and I fell in love.  I was able to "check-out" those amazing mumbo-jumbo cameras and take off.  I almost stayed with that major just so I could take all photography classes.

5. What is your one "splurge" item, that you will always buy, no matter the cost?
  • Ok... This may sound weird, but I splurge on underwear.  Not necessarily the frilly foo foo kind, but the kind that are comfortable and STAY WHERE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO.     I walk anywhere from 3-4 miles a day, and I am training for a marathon so I run anywhere from 3-20 miles a day.  Under these active conditions cheap underwear make for a very uncomfortable day.

Have a Great day, and I would LOVE to hear your response to these questions!

SNOW!

Snow is usually a rare occurring around these parts, but for the last couple of years we have seemed to get a little here and there.  Though it is not my favorite thing in the world, we still have fun!  Thought I would share a few of our fun times...

Lol, some of you who live farther north probably think we are crazy... You are probably right...  =-)

An attempt at punting a snowball... Ultimate failure

We had nothing to make a face with, so we made due.
And had a yummy snack after we got too cold to feel our toes!

I almost jumped out of my seat when I looked up from my computer screen and saw this LOL... This was my que that its time to put the computer down. So, Goodnight blogging world.  =-)

The Few.The Proud

So today was the first day of classes for Spring 2011 semester; however due to inclement weather (snow) classes were canceled!  So, I had some fun in my craft room!

One of the first things I did is a layout based off this sketch from ArtfulDelight.  It is the first time I have worked with a sketch, and I really enjoyed it.

This is the sketch...

And this is my layout...

This is for my brother who is getting deployed to Afghanistan in March.  We love him dearly and will miss him, and though we would rather him not go we are more than proud of him.
His name was cut out from Plantin Schoolbook and the stickers are K&Company.

I also had some fun with doing cards, and my hubby even got in on the fun!  He wanted to make a couple to send to the fam, so we did.

This one makes me smile!
The chicken is from Animal Kingdom and the stamp is from MPS Even More Punny-licous

Jacob couldn't get the hang of stamping, and instead of redoing it he just went over it with a Sharpie...Lol.  Hey, whatever works...
Again the dog is from Animal Kingdom and the sentiment is Even More Punny-licous.

Not your traditional baby card I must admit, but hey thats why its called a Wild Card.
All from Wild Card.

This fun card is for my Brother-in-law who just had back surgery.
All cuts are from Life is a Beach.

There is Magic in the Air

I figured I would participate in the challenge over at FCCB this week.  This layout also applies for challenges over at Cooking With Cricut  and Made By Momo, so go check those out too!  It is to create anything with snow or snowflakes.  I have to admit that I am quite happy with this turned out.

I was going through some of my photography files the other day and I found these.  About a year or so ago Arkansas had a really bad ice storm that cut power out for over a month for some people.  However, in the midst of all the that, it looked truly magical outside.  I am going to put a scrapbook together to showcase some of my photography, and I thought this would be a perfect way to start it.

Everything was cut out using Winter Woodland, not sure of the sizes because I did it on design studio to arrange all the pieces.

I popped up all the the snowflakes around the edges using pop dots from Hobby Lobby.

Then I finished it all off with Stickles, because Stickles is like having ice cream after a good meal! =-)

Have a Magical Day!

Another Layout! Yeah! Is there a such thing as blog stalking? Because I may have done that to see how others make these. Lol.. Just saying. Seriously though, I love seeing other's ideas and interpretations of projects and challenges.

For this page I used several different cartridges:
Dove: Winter Woodland at 4 inches
Branch: Serenade at around 2 inches
Words: Wild Card at 3.5 for Hope and 2.25 for Genesis
Scalloped background: Designers Calender at 8.5 by 11
The scalloped circle: Winter Woodland at 3.75
* I also cut the picture of the flower at 3.5 from Winter Woodland

The patterned paper is from K&Company and I believe it is called Faded China.  It is doubled sided and I used the same sheet for this page.

New Journey

Well, it is a new year.  I cannot believe that it is 2011 already.  I can still remember the turn of the century with all of the Y2K mess; it seems like yesterday.  But that is past, and we must not dwell on the past; we must learn from it!  =-)  I am beginning a new scrapping journey.  My crafty new years resolution was to learn (and practice) how to do layouts, because frankly... I stink. Lol.  I am also on a new spiritual journey.  I am truly a control freak, and I have a hard time putting all that I have into someone else's control.  To follow instead of lead. But this year I want to learn to follow.  What I decided to do was to scrapbook my journey. Killing two birds with one stone!

I am currently on a plan to read the entire Bible in one year.  However, that plan is not set in stone, because if God leads me in a different direction I want to follow Him there.  I probably will not scrap for every single day, but then again you never know... =-)

This first layout centers around chapters 1-4 of Genesis and the creation story.  I will not always use photographs, sometimes it will just be my thoughts on these pages.

For this page everything was cut out from the Life is a Beach cartridge.

The sun was cut out at 5 inches
The wave boarder is 11.75 by 2.5inches
The whale and lizard were both cut at 2 inches

I used ribbon, assorted buttons, and Stickles to embellish

I am so excited to learn and grow in the scrapbooking world!  I know I have so many things to lean on this journey, and I am so excited to get started.

Olivia

P.S.  I would love to hear if you have any suggestions for either of these goals. A better way to set up a page, or maybe something that inspires you.
